Business intelligence, counterparty checks and OSINT
Before you sign, it is worth knowing who you are really signing with. We check it using open sources — with the origin of every finding documented.
A commercial register entry tells you who formally represents a company. It does not tell you who actually steers it, whether the same group of people stands behind three other entities that have just gone under, or whether the managing director happens to be your procurement manager’s brother-in-law.
Business intelligence is the systematic assembly of what open sources say about an entity — and then drawing the conclusion that no single register shows on its own.
Open and lawful sources only. We work from public registers, financial filings, case law and publicly available information. Every finding carries its source and the date it was obtained, so the report can serve as evidence of due diligence.
What we check
-
Identity and legal status
Existence and legal form, currency of entries, representation and how it is exercised, share capital and whether it was paid up, status on the VAT taxpayer list, bank account on the tax authority register.
-
Ownership structure and beneficial owner
Tracing the ownership chain to a natural person, consistency with the ultimate beneficial owner register, presence of foreign entities and higher-risk jurisdictions, shell companies within the structure.
-
Personal and capital connections
Other entities of the same individuals and what became of them — including insolvencies and strike-offs, shared registered addresses and shared proxies, matching contact details between supposedly independent bidders, links to the buyer’s own staff.
-
Financial standing and capacity to perform
Financial statements for available years, revenue and result trends, liability structure, liquidity, timeliness of filings, public law arrears, whether declared resources are realistic against the declared scope.
-
Litigation and adverse events
Insolvency and restructuring proceedings, enforcement actions, entries in the register of insolvent debtors, court disputes, disqualification orders, press coverage of adverse events.
-
Sanctions and restrictions
Screening of the entity and connected persons against national and EU sanctions lists, exclusions from public procurement, restrictions arising from security legislation.
-
Digital footprint and reputation (OSINT)
Domain history and actual age, consistency between the website and the registers, social media activity, reviews and signals of disputes with clients, content removed but still available in archives.
Three levels of check
Basic verification
A quick check before a routine transaction: legal status, representation, VAT and bank account on the tax authority register, absence of insolvency entries, a basic view of financial standing.
Extended verification
The full scope above: ownership structure and beneficial owner, personal connections, three years of financial analysis, litigation history, sanctions, digital footprint. Report with a risk rating and a recommendation.
Network analysis
Screening a group of entities at once — for example all bidders in a tender, or an entire supplier portfolio. Detecting hidden links between entities that are formally independent.
Typical situations
- Before signing a contract of material value or long duration
- When a new supplier offers terms clearly out of line with the market
- When reviewing bids in a tender — especially where several look alike
- Ahead of a capital transaction or acquisition
- When a signal emerges about links between an employee and a counterparty
- During periodic review of the key supplier portfolio
- When due diligence must be evidenced to an inspection or an insurer
A report you can show
Every report contains a one-page executive summary, a three-level risk rating, detailed findings with source and date, and an unambiguous recommendation: proceed, proceed with safeguards, or walk away.
Where we recommend safeguards, we name them — a contract clause, a payment arrangement, a required guarantee.
In-depth business intelligence, counterparty risk monitoring and full pre-transaction due diligence reports run under a separate brand, lyktawywiad.pl — launching shortly. Until then, engagements are taken here.
Check the counterparty before you sign
Give us the company name or tax number and tell us what the planned cooperation involves. We will suggest the right level of verification and a delivery date.
